ACE is an Annual Carbon Emissions calculator, designed by CATALYST R&D Ltd and made freely available, to help businesses and households estimate their greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, as "you cannot manage what you cannot measure".

ACE is a simple to use Excel workbook. Results are displayed in:
- Tables and bar chart of emissions by source each month.
- Graph of cumulative annual emissions.

Simply enter data on waste and energy use (including road and air transport, electricity, gas) and refrigerant losses (if applicable) into a separate sheet for each month.

Charts are provided with preset destinations for both air and road transport to help estimate travel distances. Standard, updated emission factors are used to convert energy to emissions. Most emissions factors incorporate non-CO2 gases and hence units are given in terms of CO2 equivalent (CO2e) emissions.

Prepare an annual GHG Inventory Report
A GHG inventory report is a document that you can make publicly available that shows how your footprint was quantified and any actions you are taking. You can see an example here. An inventory report is a requirement if you are considering having your carbon footprint independently verified. For verification purposes, the inventory will be undertaken to international standard ISO 14064-1.
