Honda have announced the CR-Z hybrid coupé, signalling that Honda is about to change how the world views hybrid technology.

Honda’s CR-Z is a unique new car that combines the advantages of a fuel efficient petrol-electric hybrid power train with a sports body. The CR-Z is is fitted with a 3-Mode Drive System. The driver can choose between three driving modes which alter the responsiveness of the throttle, steering, idle-stop timing, climate control and the level of assistance provided by the electric motor. This gives the driver a level of control far greater than with conventional engines because the computer can configure the mix of electric and petrol
engine characteristics to optimise the power delivery.
