Free Fleet Risk Assessment from SurePlan

If you've got a fleet out on the road there will always be associated risks.

So how do you check your tyre pressures?
It is very important to check your tyre pressures on a regular basis. You can save petrol as well as maintain the proper handling of your vehicle. So you need to make a business flight?

Flying on an occasional basis can add up to more CO2 emissions than the rest of your personal life combined. Even if your conscience has been overcome and you still need to board that flight to a meeting in an exotic and far-flung location, there are a few measures you can take to help reduce the impact.

Sea freight emissions calculator

Greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions from shipping activities are significant and account for about 600-800m tonnes of carbon dioxide, or 5% of global emissions. This was more than double those from aviation and about twice that generated by the whole UK.

Less is more

Less is more - reducing business mileage
Every year, Kiwi workers drive millions of kilometres on business and use an excessive amount of fuel - but can they honestly say every kilometre was necessary?

Prius C is here

Toyota's much awaited Prius C is here.
Toyota tell us that the Prius c will introduce Hybrid Synergy Drive technology to buyers looking for a smart, fun and affordable hybrid.
The Toyota Hybrid Synergy Drive system in all Toyota hybrid models delivers optimum fuel economy by seamlessly blending petrol and electric power according to driving conditions.
The petrol engine is switched off to save fuel when the vehicle is stationary, coasting or braking, and when it is reversing. The vehicle uses electric power only for take-off, low-speed operation and reversing, and combines petrol and electric power for increased performance. From start-up and when accelerating gently, all Prius models can operate in EV (electric vehicle) mode, driving under electric motor power alone.
The driver may also select EV mode manually, allowing for urban driving with minimal noise and zero emissions. EV only driving range is determined by the battery charge and also by throttle input. The petrol engine may restart when the vehicle is stationary for a prolonged period to maintain battery charge.
When the driver brakes or slows down, the motor recovers the kinetic energy that is normally lost as heat and converts it into electricity to store in the hybrid battery – this feature is known as regenerative braking. The Prius hatch combines a 1.8 litre petrol engine, hybrid transaxle and 201.6 Volt Nickel Metal-Hydride (Ni-MH) battery to deliver 100kW of combined power output.
The Prius c uses a compact and unique 1.5L petrol engine, hybrid transaxle and 144 Volt Ni-MH battery for a combined output of 74kW. A first for any hybrid in New Zealand, the Prius V introduces Toyota’s lithium ion battery technology and pairs it with a 1.8 litre petrol engine. Toyota's lithium ion battery is smaller and lighter than the nickel-metal hydride battery in Prius, but has similar storage capacity.
Toyota New Zealand continues to be part of Toyota’s global trial of the Prius Plug-in Hybrid Vehicle. Three vehicles are being trialled in New Zealand, two of which are being used by Massey University. The initial trial results have been very positive with test vehicles delivering around 600 kilometres without recharging or refuelling. The Prius Plug-in Hybrid remains under study for introduction in New Zealand.

1,450 Planted in Latest Honda TreeFund Initiatives

84 volunteers have planted over 1,450 native trees and plants in the latest Honda TreeFund initiatives in Hawke’s Bay, Karamea Estuary and Petone Beach.
The plantings were made possible following financial contributions from the Honda TreeFund, which funds the planting of 13 native trees for every new car sold by the company. The trees are planted locally in the customers’ purchase region by the local council, Honda staff and their customers. Nationally more than 460,000 trees have been funded. The British Oxygen Company also financially contributed to the initiative.

Can the Jam with Car Share BOP

Did you know the world’s longest traffic hold-up was between Paris and Lyon on the French Autoroute in 1980. It consisted of about 18 million cars and was 179 kilometers long—that’s about the distance from Christchurch to Timaru! Car sharing is an excellent way to prevent traffic hold-ups.

Car company clears the air

Smog filled air is foreign to most kiwis who have grown up with blue skies in "The land of the long white cloud". What many don’t realise is that our environmental position is more serendipity than design.
